The Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) is a special operations force of the Spanish Marine Corps, created to carry out highly complex missions requiring specialized preparation, rapid deployment, and combat capability in hostile environments. The UIR of Tércio de Levante is one of the three UIRs of the Marine Corps, along with those of Tércio de Armada (San Fernando) and Tércio del Norte (El Ferrol).

UIR members receive advanced training in amphibious combat, combat diving, parachuting, hostage rescue tactics, counter-terrorism, and operations in extreme environments. The UIR has participated in numerous international missions, including peacekeeping operations in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon, as well as anti-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean.
