43 Group: Forest Firefighting

The 43 Group is the Spanish Air and Space Force's specialized unit for fighting forest fires, operating from various Spanish air bases.

Equipment

The 43 Group operates with two models of amphibious aircraft specialized in firefighting:

• CL-215T: Canadian amphibious aircraft with water carrying capacity
• CL-415: Improved version of the CL-215 with greater capacity and advanced technology

Missions

Main Mission - Forest Firefighting: The 43 Group is the first line of defense against forest fires in Spain. Its amphibious aircraft can load thousands of liters of water from lakes, reservoirs, or the sea, and discharge them with precision over fire outbreaks.

Secondary Mission - SAR (Search and Rescue): In addition to firefighting, the 43 Group performs search and rescue missions when required.
